The second studio album from The Damned, released in November 1977 and following the landmark Damned Damned Damned. Produced by Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, Music for Pleasure showed a more experimental side to the band while retaining the energy and irreverence of their early punk sound.

Where the debut was a short, sharp blast of punk rock, Music for Pleasure stretches out into stranger territory, with angular guitar work, unconventional arrangements and a more chaotic, psychedelic edge. Tracks such as Problem Child, Don’t Cry Wolf and Idiot Box demonstrate the band’s willingness to push beyond the conventional punk formula.

Although initially less commercially successful than its predecessor, the album has become an important part of The Damned’s early catalogue and an interesting snapshot of a band already refusing to be confined by the emerging punk template.
