The landmark third album from The Clash, released in December 1979 and widely regarded as one of the defining albums of the post-punk era. London Calling saw the band expand dramatically beyond their punk roots, incorporating reggae, rockabilly, ska, R&B, soul and rock ‘n’ roll into a remarkably diverse double album.

From the urgent title track and the driving Death or Glory to the reggae-influenced The Guns of Brixton, the album demonstrates The Clash’s growing musical ambition without losing the raw energy that made them one of Britain’s most important punk bands.

The iconic cover, featuring Paul Simonon smashing his bass on stage, became one of the most recognisable images in rock music. With London Calling, The Clash created an album that was both politically charged and musically adventurous, cementing its place as a cornerstone of British rock.
