Houses of the Holy is the fifth studio album from Led Zeppelin, released in 1973 and marking another significant expansion of the band’s musical range. While the album retains the power and weight of their earlier work, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham explore a much broader palette, incorporating progressive rock, funk, reggae influences and more atmospheric arrangements.

The album opens with the explosive The Song Remains the Same, followed by the beautiful and atmospheric The Rain Song, while Over the Hills and Far Away provides one of the band’s most memorable combinations of acoustic and electric guitar. Elsewhere, The Crunge takes the band into funk territory, D’yer Mak’er embraces reggae-inspired rhythms, and the expansive No Quarter remains one of the album’s defining tracks.

The original UK Atlantic pressing was issued as K 50014 in a distinctive gatefold sleeve, with the eight tracks spread evenly across the two sides. Original copies are particularly appealing to collectors for their early green-and-orange Atlantic labels, gatefold artwork and textured lyric inner sleeve.
