Mr Fox is the remarkable debut album from the British folk-rock group formed by husband-and-wife duo Bob and Carole Pegg. Released in 1970 on Transatlantic Records, the album occupies an intriguing place in the early British folk-rock movement, combining traditional English folk influences with original compositions and an unusually atmospheric, experimental sound.

Rather than following the conventional electric folk-rock approach of contemporaries such as Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span, Mr Fox created a distinctive sound built around fiddle, cello, woodwinds, melodeon, keyboards and percussion. The music has a distinctly northern English character, drawing heavily on the folklore and traditions of the Yorkshire Dales.

Highlights include Join Us in Our Game, The Gay Goshawk, Salisbury Plain and the atmospheric title track Mr Fox. The album was produced by renowned folk producer Bill Leader and recorded by Nic Kinsey at Livingstone Studios in Barnet.
