Description
The second UK pressing (1973, Harvest SHVL 804) uses the same iconic prism artwork by Hipgnosis, but can usually be identified by:
- Gatefold sleeve (same artwork style as first press)
- Label rim text often changes to “EMI Records Ltd” (later than first press “The Gramophone Co. Ltd”)
- Usually includes no major artwork changes (the cover image remains the prism design)
- Includes posters
So visually, the “cover art” is effectively identical across early UK pressings — the differences are mainly label text, matrix numbers, and inserts, not the sleeve image itself.

Quick collector note (what actually defines “2nd pressing”)
For UK copies, collectors usually confirm it via:
- Label rim text (EMI Records Ltd vs The Gramophone Co. Ltd)
- Matrix/runout numbers (A-2/B-2, A-3/B-3 variants, etc.)
- Presence/condition of posters & stickers (varies even within pressings)
