Description
Swell Maps – In Jane From Occupied Europe
Released: 1980 | Rough Trade Records | Original UK Pressing | LP
The second and final studio album from Swell Maps, In Jane From Occupied Europe is a wonderfully chaotic and adventurous piece of British post-punk.
Originally released in 1980, the album captures the band’s deliberately unconventional approach to music, mixing punk, experimental rock, tape manipulation, noise and psychedelic influences into something that remains strikingly original.
Led by Nikki Sudden and Epic Soundtracks, Swell Maps operated well outside the conventions of mainstream rock, with fragmented songs, strange sound effects and unpredictable arrangements sitting alongside some genuinely memorable melodies.
